Summary
This article explains how to upgrade your Tembria Server Monitor version 6.4.1 installation to FrameFlow.
 
Preparation
These instructions assume that your licensed Tembria Server Monitor was installed in the default location of "C:\Program Files\Tembria Server Monitor" and uses the port 8080 for the web interface. Also it assumes that you have already downloaded the licensed version of the FrameFlow setup and your FrameFlow license file.
 
1. Stop the Tembria Server Monitor Service
  1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog
  2. In the "Open:" drop down, type: services.msc
  3. Press Enter or click OK to open the services window
  4. Right click on the "Tembria Server Monitor Service" service and choose "Stop"
  5. Right click again on the "Tembria Server Monitor Service" service and choose "Properties"
  6. Change the "Startup type:" to "Manual" and click OK
2. Install FrameFlow
Using the FrameFlow licensed setup, install FrameFlow. After the setup is complete the FrameFlow start up wizard will run. You can skip the start up wizard by clicking on the X in the top right corner.
 
3. Stop the FrameFlow Service
  1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog
  2. In the "Open:" drop down, type: services.msc
  3. Press Enter or click OK to open the services window
  4. Right click on the "FrameFlow Service" service and choose "Stop"
4. Migrate the data from Tembria Server Monitor
  1. Press Win + E to open Windows Explorer
  2. Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Tembria Server Monitor"
  3. Right click on the "Sites" subfolder and choose copy
  4. Navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\FrameFlow"
  5. Right click on the "Sites" subfolder and choose rename. Rename it to "SitesOld"
  6. Press Ctrl + V to copy the "Sites" folder from the Tembria installation
5. Migrate Settings and Preferences

FrameFlow should be using the same port as Tembria Server Monitor in the web interface. If the ports are different, please complete the optional step below. This step assumes Tembria Server Monitor is using port 8080 for the web interface.

  1. Press Win + E to open Windows Explorer
  2. Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Tembria Server Monitor"
  3. Right click on "config.ini" and choose edit. (Leave the Notepad window open)
  4. Navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\FrameFlow"
  5. Right click on "config.ini" and choose "Edit".
  6. Copy theses sections from the Tembria Server Monitor's "config.ini" file to the FrameFlow's "config.ini" file.

    • [DistributionLists]
    • [ActiveNotifications]
    • [Display]
    • [General]
    • [GraphDataExport]
    • [VoiceNotifications]
    • [SmsGprs]
  • [Optional] Under the "[WebServer]" section find the line that starts with "Port=" and replace the line with "Port=8080"
  • Save the "config.ini" file
6. [Optional] Configure IIS

If you had set your Tembria Server Monitor installation to run through IIS, you'll need to update the virtual directory or web application using the IIS manager.

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog
  2. Enter "inetmgr.exe"
  3. Press Enter or click OK to open the services window
  4. Navigate to the "tembria" virtual directory (on Windows 2003 or earlier)
  5. Or, navigate to the "tembria" application (on Windows 2008 and later)
  6. Change the path for the application / virtual directory to "C:\Program Files (x86)\FrameFlow\Html"
  7. [Optional] Rename the virtual directory / application to "frameflow"
  8. Open a command line window and run "iisreset"
7. [Optional] Copy Scripts used by the "Run a script" Notification Action
  1. Press Win + E to open Windows Explorer
  2. Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Tembria Server Monitor"
  3. Right click on the "Scripts" subfolder and choose "Copy"
  4. Navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\FrameFlow"
  5. Press Ctrl + V to copy the "Scripts" folder from the Tembria installation. Choose yes if you are prompted to merge the folders.
8. [Optional] Copy Sounds used by the "Play a sound" Notification Action
  1. Press Win + E to open Windows Explorer
  2. Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Tembria Server Monitor"
  3. Right click on the "Sounds" subfolder and choose "Copy"
  4. Navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\FrameFlow"
  5. Press Ctrl + V to copy the "Sounds" folder from the Tembria installation. Choose yes if you are prompted to merge the folders.

9. [Optional] Copy Custom SNMP MIBs from your Tembria Installation

  1. Press Win + E to open Windows Explorer
  2. Navigate to "C:\Program Files\Tembria Server Monitor"
  3. Right click on the "MIBs" subfolder and choose "Copy"
  4. Navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\FrameFlow"
  5. Press Ctrl + V to copy the "MIBs" folder from the Tembria installation. Choose yes if you are prompted to merge the folders.
10. [Optional] Add Custom Templates

FrameFlow has different templates than Tembria Server Monitor. You'll want to add any templates that have been created by you into "C:Program Files (x86)\FrameFlow\Templates".
11. Start the FrameFlow Service

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog
  2. In the "Open:" drop down, type: services.msc
  3. Press Enter or click OK to open the services window
  4. Right click on the "FrameFlow Service" service and choose "Start"
12. Finished

You can now uninstall Tembria Server Monitor.
