SMTP Event Monitor

Monitors outgoing mail server to verify it's running.

Overview

The SMTP Event Monitor uses the standard Simple Mail Transport Protocol to connect to an outgoing mail server and verify that it is up and running.

Use Cases

  • Ensuring that SMTP servers are in operation and are accepting requests

Monitoring Options

This event monitor provides the following options:

Alert with [Info/Warning/Error/Success] if the SMTP server cannot be contacted

Use this option to get alerts if the event monitor was unable to connect to the SMTP server.

Port Number

The default port number for SMTP is 25, but if your mail server is running on a non-standard port, you can enter it here.

Authentication and Security

Select an authentication profile that matches the username and password for the mailbox.
