Overview

The VMware VMs Disk Event Monitor keeps track of the disk space your VMware guests are using. It alerts based on multiple disk space metrics so you can tell when you're running out of space.

• Getting alerts about sudden changes in available disk space
• Making sure each VMware guest has adequate disk space

Monitoring Options

This event monitor provides the following options:

Alert with [Info/Warning/Error/Critical] if the device cannot be contacted

Use this option to be alerted if the event monitor cannot contact the device.

Alert if disks have less than a specified amount of free space available

This option alerts you if there's less free space left on disks than the threshold you specify.

Alert if disks are more than a specified percentage full

This option alerts you if disks are fuller than a percentage you specify.

Alert if the disks contain more than a specified amount of data

Use this option to receive alerts if the disks contain more data than the amount you specify.

Alert if the disks contain less than a specified amount of data

Use this option to receive alerts if the disks contain less data than the amount you specify.

Alert if available disk space [changes/increases/decreases] by more than a specified percentage since the last check

This customizable option will alert you about changes in disk spaces between event monitor runs.

Alert if available disk space [changes/increases/decreases] by more than a specified amount since the last check

This option is the same as the one above but alerts based on amount instead of percentage.

Only check disks smaller than [size]

Use this option to ignore disks bigger than the size you specify.

Only check disks larger than [size]

Use this option to ignore disks smaller than the size you specify.

Virtual Machines to Ignore

Specify here VMs that you do not want the event monitor to check.

Disks to Ignore

Specify disks you'd like to ignore here.

Authentication and Security

The account that you specify must have view permissions for the VMware REST API or have admin rights.

This event monitor generates the following data points:

Data Point	Description
Space Available	The amount of disk space still available.
Space Used	The amount of disk space that has been used.
