The Terminal Services Event Monitor queries specified Terminal Services server(s) for availability and session information. It also includes options to verify that Terminal Services are available and to check on the number of concurrent sessions. This tutorial will teach you how to set up a Terminal Service Event Monitor so you can start taking advantage of its features.

The first option will let you know with an alert level of your choice if Windows Terminal Services are not available.

Connection Settings

The next option controls alerts about the number of sessions. Enter the number of sessions that will trigger each level of alert. Use the checkbox below this option to ignore disconnected sessions.

Number of Sessions Alert Option

Enable the next option to receive an alert if a user other than the ones you've listed is found to have a session. Separate different users with commas.

Permitted Users

The next option lets you input a list of banned users. The event monitor will send an alert of your choice if any of these users are found to have a session.

Banned Users

Select the last option to include a list of all detected sessions in the event text generated each time the event monitor runs.
